Biography
Melda Ece Kelemcisoy is a scholar-activist, translator, and PhD researcher at the Open University. Her interdisciplinary PhD research, supervised by Dr Matthew Cole and Prof Caroline Clarke, explores the organisation of the animal advocacy movement in the UK and how animal advocacy/vegan organisations resist anthropocentric discourses. Before joining the OU, she studied Politics and Sociology at Durham University and completed a British Council-funded master’s in Management from Newcastle University, focusing on animals and business ethics. Melda has worked in various volunteer campaigns and community organising roles in the UK and Turkey, with organisations including Animal Rising, Animal Equality, The Humane League, and The Save Movement Türkiye.
