Vegan Sociology Weekly Shut Up and Write
Join other vegan sociologists for a two hour shut up and write each week held on Microsoft teams. These are currently held at 10:30am-12:30pm ACDT on Thursdays. Email info@vegansociology.com to be added to the SUAW events.
What is a shut up and write?
SUAW sessions are a great opportunity to progress something you are writing on amidst the support and (gentle) peer pressure of other vegan sociologists. You will join our teams meeting, each member says what their writing goal is for the day and then we set a timer and work silently with our cameras on for the agreed duration. Some find it very motivating! Afterwards we chat about what we managed to get done and sometimes folks linger around for a chat and a cup of tea.
So you just sit on teams with your cameras on and write quietly?
Yes!
Who can join?
Anyone in our vegan sociology community is welcome as long as they are willing to respect the group norms and work quietly and respectfully with the SUAW participants.
What if I can’t stay for the full two hours?
That is absolutely fine! We just ask that you join/leave quietly if writing is underway so that you don’t disturb the others in the group.
The times set don’t work for me
Being an international association we know timezones can be really tricky! The current meeting is scheduled to suit the availability of the folks already in the group. If you would like to organise a SUAW session in your own timezone or would like to suggest another time please contact us at info@vegansociology.com to discuss.
What if I have more questions?
We’re happy to hear from you! Please contact us at info@vegansociology.com
